Patrick Lemmon

Patrick Lemmon

Lead builder and designer, Patrick Lemmon is a traditionally trained builder specializing in structural masonry and timber frame construction and design. A native of the Carolina Piedmont, Patrick has built all across the Eastern United States. After earning a bachelor’s degree in music and philosophy, Patrick completed a three year apprenticeship with master builder Clay Chapman and the Hope For Architecture building initiative. Joining HFA as its first full-time apprentice, he played an integral role in shaping the program while focusing on the design and construction of multi-century structures. Beyond his professional work, Patrick’s additional projects and pursuits include developing hand-stitched leather tool pouches, researching thermal mass performance in structural masonry construction, cataloging lime mortar samples, teaching workshops, and presenting at speaking engagements. Committed to engaging in the global building conversation on preserving and advancing the craft of traditional building, Patrick is honored to be a member of the INTBAU College of Traditional Young Practitioners, a member of the Stone Trust, and certified through the DSWA.

Seth Harris

Seth Harris

Lead builder and craftsman, Seth Harris is a master craftsman and builder specializing in timber framing, dry stone walling, blacksmithing, and custom built cabinetry. A native of Vermont, Seth grew up immersed in artisan craft in his family’s woodworking shop and sawmill, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for the art of making. In high school, Seth completed a two-year blacksmith apprenticeship at the Fort at No. 4, a living history museum and historic site, further shaping his understanding of traditional techniques. In his twenties, he took over the family woodworking shop, expanding its services to include timber framing and furniture making, while applying his growing expertise to projects across the East Coast. Seth holds a Level 3, Advanced Certificate in Dry Stone Walling from the DSWA and serves as a lead instructor at The Stone Trust, hosting workshops throughout the year. Dedicated to mentorship, he has taught at Camp Lawroweld’s annual outdoor school and other regional craft programs. Outside of building, Seth pursues small-scale farming, blacksmithing, and other hands-on projects, sustaining a life rooted in craft and connection to the material world.

Saman Moein

Saman Moein

Builder and designer, Saman Moein is a traditionally trained craftsman and designer specializing in fine woodworking, architectural design, masonry, and landscape design. Growing up in Iran, Saman developed an abiding appreciation for historic building traditions and the quiet sensibility of time-honored construction methods, an influence that continues to guide his work as both designer and maker. He holds a master’s degree in architecture and completed the Building Arts program through The King’s Foundation, where his work bridged academic rigor and hands-on construction. Saman is DSWA Level II certified and brings a careful, considered approach to building that balances technical precision with material sensitivity. Beyond his professional work, his pursuits include wood carving, tutoring at the Building Beauty School, and serving as an architectural juror, contributing to the ongoing education and dialogue surrounding traditional building practices.

Will Johnson

Will Johnson

Builder and craftsman, Will Johnson is a skilled timber framer and mason who specializes in historic timber restoration and traditional construction techniques. Raised on a farm in New Hampshire, Will developed a hands-on understanding of materials and craftsmanship from an early age. He earned a BA in Philosophy before pursuing a career in traditional building, completing extensive timber framing projects across the region. A versatile craftsman, Will serves as a crew leader and is equally adept in masonry, timber framing, and general construction. He holds a DSWA Level II certification and is recognized for his expertise in restoring multi-century structures while maintaining their historic integrity. In addition to his work on-site, Will is dedicated to the broader craft community, mentoring apprentices, and building furniture in his spare time.

Will Lewis

Builder and artist, Will Lewis is a traditionally trained artist specializing in conceptual design, masonry, and timber framing. Growing up in a household of musicians and artists, Will developed a rich, intuitive sense of composition that informs both his work as designer and builder. He attended the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he refined his conceptual and visual approach before pursuing a career in traditional building and art commissions. Serving as the resident artist, Will brings a highly developed artistic sensibility to masonry and timber frame construction, bridging fine art and craft with clarity and precision. Beyond his professional work, his creative pursuits include music and song composition and oil painting, further enriching the interdisciplinary perspective he brings to each project.

James Risberg

James Risberg

Builder and bard, James Risberg is a skilled craftsman with a background in software development and design. Raised on Army bases across the country, James cultivated a love for tinkering and electrical engineering. He earned a BS in Computer Science from the University of Florida. Entering a career in software engineering, James came across the work of Christopher Alexander and began a journey of developing his architectural skills.

Drawn from the screen to the building site, James applies the same creative, pattern-thinking that shaped his computer work to masonry, timber framing, and design. In addition to his professional work, James enjoys woodworking, writing on design, and continuing the dialogue between the digital and the tactile.

Yoshi Thiele

Yoshi Thiele

Builder and metalworker, Yoshi Thiele is a skilled metalworker, carpenter, welder, and mechanic with a knack for inventive problem-solving. Growing up moving around the United States, Yoshi spent his youth taking things apart and putting them back together, cultivating an early curiosity for how things work and a hands-on approach to making. Yoshi combines technical precision with creative thinking, tackling complex projects in metal and wood with skill. Whether in the workshop or in the field, he thrives on finding practical solutions and bringing ideas to life. Beyond his professional work, Yoshi volunteers at a local church-school, building trails and outdoor features that are built to last. His work is a confluence of craftsmanship, ingenuity, and a commitment to making a tangible impact wherever he builds.
